Very often, following a significant trauma such as an ankle sprain, there can be a feeling of vulnerability or wobbliness in the ankle, as if you can’t trust the ankle to be wholly stable when you walk.
While the ankle is healing, it is important that the foot is supported correctly when walking. Footwear my need to accommodate swelling and strapping / bandage. A shoe-fitter will recommend a strong supportive sole, low or medium height at heel, with correct accommodation for any strapping or swelling present.
